WILDLIFE

Sunart is home to a remarkable array of wildlife, particularly birds and mammals, many of which – with a bit of luck – you will see during your visit. These include red deer, pine martens, otters, red squirrels, white-tailed and golden eagles and grey seals. Send us your photos or video and we might upload them here (as we have done with the pine marten video, below).

Most guests hugely enjoy sharing their balcony, most evenings, with our friendly, neighbourhood pine martens (Martes martes). A mustelid, they are a rare (~3,000 in the UK) and protected species with a cream/yellow ‘bib’ and growing up to 70cm. Although as many as six have been seen at one time they usually visit in ones or twos.
